Pratt’s story offers the impossible, even lets Ally choose it, but on the whole affirms reality. Many of us are content with our lives, despite the minor imperfections found in the world. Why then does Pete remain in his own world? Pratt presents the option of the impossible, but chooses reality. Yet to Pete, parts of it are clearly superior. Ally’s world clearly isn’t a utopia – it still has problems. But it also presents to possibility of the impossible, describing a subtly different world in which the impossible is often reality. Enjoyable, a fast read, there appears to be little more to Impossible Dreams than this. The passion that drives Pete and Ally is a passion we all feel for our various interests, making Pete understandable. However, the story is also a love story between two people and movies. The movie clerk Ally leaves her world for Pete’s, giving them the ability to be together. In many ways, the story is just another love story, complete with a happy ending. ![]() There, the movies are slightly different – different actors, different directors, additional footage.
